About Derek

I am Derek Grier, a lifelong resident of Chesterfield, Missouri, where I have witnessed our city evolve into one of the finest in the nation. My deep connection to this community drives my commitment to see both Chesterfield and its residents thrive.

Together with my wife, Ashley, we are raising our two sons, Jack and Logan, who are part of the Parkway Schools community. This personal stake in our local education system underscores my dedication to enhancing our schools and community facilities.

My career in business and real estate has not only given me insights into economic growth but also the practical experience needed to foster it. Ashley and I own a consulting firm and a real estate brokerage with 25 agents, providing me with firsthand knowledge of the economic landscape of Chesterfield.

My commitment to public service started early. I began volunteering with local civic organizations as a young adult, which led to my election as Chesterfield’s City Councilman from 2011 to 2015, where I was the youngest in the city’s history. This role was followed by my tenure as a Missouri State Representative from 2016 to 2022. During this time, I was honored to be chosen by my peers to chair the Economic Development Committee, where I spearheaded reforms aimed at encouraging entrepreneurship, easing overregulation, and facilitating employment.

These reforms have since inspired similar changes in dozens of other states, showcasing Chesterfield’s leadership in progressive legislation.

Returning my focus to our beloved city, my vision as Mayor includes:

Public Safety: Ensuring our community remains one of the safest through support for our dedicated police force.

Chesterfield is on the brink of defining its future with projects like the mall redevelopment and Gateway Studios, which I believe will be pivotal in shaping our community’s next chapter. I am committed to guiding this growth with a blend of innovation and preservation, ensuring that Chesterfield remains a place where everyone can thrive.
